THE EU HAS SCREWED-UP ANY NEGOTIATIONS FROM THE START
Today the BBC site showed a photograph of Merkel and Macron, each covering their mouths at the same time, with May in the middle, head bowed, apparently listening. Whatever the reason these EU leaders had for covering their mouths, it looked as though May was being stitched-up. The EU has dictated the order of negotiations from the start, and she has accepted their terms. The British should have stated what it wanted, at least as an opening position, including trade. It should have refused to start negotiations under the conditions imposed by the EU. No-one in their right mind would even begin to negotiate without an idea of what they were going to get. A deal is not necessary. Lawson and Redwood are right. We could just go without a deal and trade under WTO rules. After leaving and starting to trade under WTO rules, we could agree any other relations with the EU. We would probably have to trade under WTO rules with other countries, not in the EU, in any case.
