A MANAGED NO DEAL

The financial expert Ruth Lee believes we should go for a managed No Deal.  I think this is an excellent way out of the present impasse.  We leave the EU on March 29th and then any negotiation can begin.  We will be completely free to choose the way forward, cherry-picking as we go.  The EU countries will be desperate to continue trade.

WHY DO THE POLITICIANS WINGE ABOUT BUSINESS?

The MPs winge about the need to support business (for fear of losing their seat).  But they are not really concerned about British business.  Their concerns are about international business. They say that goods should arrive just-in-time for us to put the pieces together, and never mind about the environment.  Does it occur to the politicians that we could manufacture complete items (we used to) avoiding the transport of goods across continents, reducing pollution and traffic congestion at the ports, and boosting jobs in design and manufacture in Britain?    

WHY IS CORBYN SO CAGEY ABOUT ANOTHER REFERENDUM?

Does Corbyn realise that very many of his labour voters want to get out of the EU?  Of course he does.  They would prefer NO DEAL to one that kept us tied to the EU.  There are many, probably most of all voters at the time, who understood that leaving the EU meant there would be no need for a DEAL.  Dealing just didn't feature.

NO DEAL - THE BEST

Come March the 29th, NO DEAL would be the best result for the British people.  We need to get quickly into gear without the delay of what would be an indeterminate and lengthy transition period.  The EU is going to publish their view of  NO DEAL later this month, no doubt to attempt to frighten us.

THE BACKSTOP - IRRELEVANT TO BREXIT

We never heard of the backstop when we voted in the Referendum.  Our minds were focussed on one thing - getting out of the EU, an extra layer of bureaucratic government that imposed intolerable burdens on us.

An expert said on the Business programme this morning, "we need to make more".  This has been my view all along, a view hardly expressed by any government in the recent past.  Neither the Government nor opposition have said what they are going to do for our industry.  They prefer to argue, and wallow in irrelevances, and not see the opportunities that Brexit gives. We must get our manufacturing out of the doldrums, representing only 25% of our economy.   

A GENERAL ELECTION LOOMS - ARE YOU READY?

Tory remainer Dominic Grieve has thrown a spanner in the works.  The only way out for the Tories is a General Election with a PRO LEAVE  leader.  

YOUNGER PEOPLE DON'T UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF GETTING A NO DEAL

May and Corbyn frequently talk about protecting British jobs.  Yet over the years parties of all persuasions have overseen the destruction of real jobs.  Many firms have been shut-down.  British industry is at its weakest.  We have lost big employers such as GEC, AEI, English Electric, Marconi, Alfred Herbert, Courtaulds, Massey Fergusson, many car makers and literally hundreds of others  (with names which younger people probably don't remember). We have gone from a large manufacturing economy, competing with the likes of Germany and Japan, to one where manufacturing is only 25% of the total in the country.  The other 75% is in service industries where jobs can be taken away much more easily.  That is the situation which successive Governments have put us in.  A NO DEAL BREXIT, WILL FORCE THE GOVERNMENT, EMPLOYERS, THE CITY, AND OURSELVES TO CHANGE TACK. 

So what have you got to say about this Mrs May and Mr Corbyn!!!!

LEAVING THE EU MEANS LEAVE.  WE WANT TO GET RID OF THE EU WITH ITS LIBERAL BUREAUCRATIC BURDEN THAT WEIGHS HEAVILY ON THE BACKS OF BRITISH CITIZENS.  WE WANT FREEDOM: TO MAKE OUR OWN LAWS WITH OUR OWN STANDARDS; TRADE WITH WHOEVER; THINK FOR OURSELVES; DESIGN, MAKE AND TEST OUR OWN PRODUCTS AS WE ONCE DID; DO OUR OWN SCIENCE; RUN OUR OWN FARMS; CARRY OUT OUR OWN CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS; OPERATE OUR OWN HEALTH SERVICE; TRANSPORT OUR OWN GOODS; BUILD OUR OWN COMPUTER SYSTEMS; SEND UP OUR OWN ROCKETS AND SATELLITES; BUILD OUR OWN CARS AND PLANES;  RUN OUR UNIVERSITIES TO EDUCATE OUR OWN CHILDREN. We have wasted more than two years already since the Referendum.  If we accept May's deal, how many more years are we going to waste?   We should leave the EU now, and get on with earning our living.  We voted for an immediate withdrawal from the EU.  We certainly did not vote for the never-ending wrangling by the Labour party and some members of the Government.  Parliament is on course to rubbish the result of the Referendum and walk over the people who voted.  This is just not good enough.

OVER TWO YEARS AGO, THERE WASN'T A WORD ABOUT ANY NEGOTIATIONS WHATSOEVER OR ANY DISCUSSION OF DEALS, MRS MAY.  SHE HAS IT WRONG.  IT WAS TAKEN FOR GRANTED THAT WE WOULD SIMPLY LEAVE.  IN EFFECT WE VOTED FOR NO DEALING.  BREXIT MEANS NO DEALING AND NO DEAL.  "DEALING" WITH THE EU WAS NOT IN THE THOUGHTS OF THE BRITISH PEOPLE.  

WE WANTED OUT FROM A HEAVILY BUREAUCRATIC EU THAT LET-IN FOREIGN NATIONALS AT A STAGGERING LEVEL.  AS POPULATIONS INCREASE I AND MOST OTHERS MUST DREAD TO THINK WHAT LEVEL OF IMMIGRATION WE WILL FACE WITH FLOODS COMING FROM AFRICA AND WAR-TORN MUSLIM COUNTRIES.  

WE WANTED TO GET BACK TO A BALANCED ECONOMY WITH MUCH MORE MANUFACTURING, LIKE GERMANY AND JAPAN.  WE DIDN'T WANT TO BE MERELY ASSEMBLERS OF PARTS REQUIRING TRANSPORT FROM OTHER COUNTRIES, WHICH DON'T FIT TOGETHER.

Parliament has debated Brexit many times.  Today they showed that they were concerned about people's jobs.  The weakness of our position is reflected by the politicians insistence on protecting jobs to keep-in with their voters.  The politicians are hypocritical. Successive governments have allowed the sell-off of a vast number of our businesses.  Foreign companies now own those businesses. Manufacture of our products is split between countries.  And all we have is the city.  Mrs May understands the city. Her husband works in it.  It hasn't traditionally supported British Industry.  If we stay in the EU real jobs can all be taken away.  There is a deep desire in the country to break free from the EU and get back to original designing, making, testing, and selling reliable British made products made by British-owned companies.

Yet more scaremongering by a minority of 'experts' who have a vested interest in remaining in the EU.

F35 LIFT SYSTEM - A CRYING SHAME

SO WE CAN ONLY PROVIDE THE LIFT SYSTEM FOR THE F35 ENGINE OF AN AMERICAN MADE AIRCRAFT.  WE ONCE HAD THE BRITISH MANUFACTURED VERTICAL TAKE-OFF FIGHTER JET WITH ITS BRITISH PEGASUS ENGINE.  THIS IS ONE GOOD REASON TO GET OUT OF THE EU.  WE NEED TO THINK FOR OURSELVES. 

NO DEAL IS A DEAL

No deal means we have a deal because there is nothing to stop us trading under WTO rules.  Let the EU chase us for our business.  They undoubtedly will.  For example, do you think BMW, Mercedes and all the other EU companies who want to sell their goods in Britain, will sit on their hands and do nothing?  They will create merry hell with Barnier and the EU parliament.

SLAVES OF BEZOS

The closing-down of major stores is due to globalisation, and in particular Amazon.  People just shrug their shoulders.  It seems most of us are to become slaves of this great big monster.  The government is to blame for letting it happen.  Just order everything from Amazon.  I hate it. 

WAS BORIS RIGHT?

Our faces communicate our thoughts.  But we are barred from seeing the faces of many Muslim women.  They are a mystery.  We do not know if they are happy, sad, angry, or whatever.  One thinks the worst, that they are malevolent.  They are black non-entities, misfits in our modest tradition.  I question their beliefs just as I do the beliefs of everyone else.  To advertise their beliefs from afar in such a way, I find offensive.  I find it offensive that anyone, of any belief system, should dress to display that belief. 

Boris was right to raise the issue, but he should have argued in favour of banning a form of dress that is alien to this country. 

MAY DOESN'T TRUST ANYONE

May does not trust Dominic Raab.  She cannot delegate and leave people to get on with their job.  The statement of Raab that there is a possibility no deal must have been too much for her.  He will go the same way as Johnson, Davis, and others.  Her management of people is that of a dictatorial woman who will not let go of her ideas.  It is time for a general election.  The people will decide which way they want the country to go.  My view is that we should come out of the EU now.  Trump is right about one thing at least.  He supports core US businesses that have been neglected for years.  Unfortunately, our own politicians don't get this.

NO DEAL IS THE BEST DEAL FOR BRITAIN

This gives Britain the total freedom that the referendum result implied.  If we want a deal then let it be like the one Japan recently negotiated with the EU.  If Japan can do it why can't we.  In any case Japan is nothing more than a backdoor for Chinese exports.  I recently bought a calculator thinking that it was supposedly of Japanese manufacture.  But lo and behold the product says it was made in China.  So many products that purport to be made by many non-Chinese companies turn out to be made in China. 

We do need the freedom to build our manufacturing base again.  How many new complete aeroplanes exhibited  at Farnborough were built in the UK?   None!  We shouldn't be merely making wings for the EU.  

There are belated signs of a small rocket base in Scotland.  But once upon a time we had our own large rocket which was sold to the French.  The rocket engine was tested at Ansty not far from where I live. 

Middle England weeps over the loss of industries, to the depth of its core.  So think about that Mrs May and Mr Corbyn!!!  

There are no policies from either party to revive British industry. I mean British owned industries which we can all take pride in.

MAY SHOULD TAKE A LONG TERM VIEW OF WHAT WOULD BE GOOD FOR THE BRITISH PEOPLE

May is a slave to short-terminism.  She cannot see beyond the next election.  She cannot see that coming out of the EU will eventually make Britain great again and restore its manufacturing base.

MAY AND THE CONSERVATIVES PROTECT THE CITY WHILE LETTING PRODUCERS OF GOODS GO TO HELL

May is all about the city and money and must be heavily influenced by her husband (who works in the city). She really couldn't care less about about manufacturing which was a source of British pride.  She knows nothing about it. She wants to keep the EU and the British people sweet with trade deals with the EU on products while letting the city have its own way, and at the same time locking us into the EU.  But jobs are not everything.  Nor is economic growth.  We need to take the heat out of global business activity.  I reject London-centred globalisation.  We have seen over the years the selling-off of most British-owned industries to foreign buyers.  We are today, merely assemblers.  We need to get back to designing and manufacturing.       

MAY HAS BEHAVED LIKE A SOUTH AMERICAN DICTATOR

She has deserved everything she has got, after locking up her cabinet in Chequers and threatening them with dire consequences if they didn't support her view.  No man could tolerate such treatment, let alone a woman.  Davis and Johnson represent the true Brexiteers.  

BUILD EVERYTHING OURSELVES

We should build our own cars, aeroplanes, ships, etc, and the parts for them, and not be transporting parts to and from other countries.  They could be all be made completely in the UK, as they once were.  We should not be selling-off our technologies to other countries and then have to buy them back again, as for example vertical take-off fighter aircraft.  Britains can take no pride in watching the flypast marking the 100th anniversary of the RAF. 

The government cannot see where all this is going.  We have the latest sell-off - Rolls Royce's Marine Division to Norway.  When will it all end?  Plane manufacturer Airbus, BMW and Jaguar Landrover are threatening UK jobs.  They shouldn't be allowed by law to do this. These firms and others like them should be in British hands.  The financial services industry should be forced to back Britain or get out of this country. 

Today, May and the conservatives have done their yellow-belly worst for Britain.  It has all been talk. 

WE SHOULD JUST LEAVE REGARDLESS AND RESTORE PRIDE IN OUR NATION

We should not take lectures from the EU, nor Southern Ireland presidents, nor should we beg like dogs for any favours.  We should simply go and take whatever comes.  Then everything can be up for true negotiation with whoever.  There may be a few hiccups, but everyone will know we are serious.

She thinks blindly that she is going to deliver Brexit in the way that the British people want.  Which British people is she talking about?  When the people voted, they voted to come out of the EU, period.  They voted that way because that was their opinion of the effect that the EU has had on this country.  That view has not changed.  It is a view that is pervasive among the British people. They see the machinations of the politicians, Barnier being the EU's hit man.  May should ditch the EU experiment, for that is what it has been.  Better to give the job to Boris.

The remoaners just cannot shut up.  The British people were once confident that they could go it alone.  They can do anything - build complete aircraft, ships, cars, cycles, rockets, satellites, radar.  Why import parts from all over? They can even feed themselves.  The arch remoaner Vince Cable came on the televison this morning decrying just about everything British, speaking in his depressive monotonic voice.  He should be quietly retired.

On page 129-131 of Unzicker's book, the Higgs Fake, he makes some comments about what he calls Higgs Infotainment.  After saying that particle physics has no useful output at all, he says that what people don't realise is that Cox is a particle physicist (like those at CERN).   Unzicker describes the following quotes by Cox as verbiage: "the most complex machine ever built"; it found the "genuinely fundamental" Higgs particle, "one of the most important discoveries in the history of science, on equal footing with the electron" and physics is in "a golden age".

But the case of the electron is entirely different from the so-called Higgs particle.  You can affect an electron directly by deflecting its path in a discharge tube with either a magnet or an electric charge.  You can calculate the mass of the electron with a simple calculation. The Higgs boson is said to exist for such a short time that direct action on it is impossible.  It is said to be observed from its by-products.  The by-products are said to mathematically predict the Higgs particle. The abstract, weird Mathematics which they employ are manipulated to get the result they want.  The same applies to the W and Z bosons  and the host of other particles. The masses of these particles are mostly unknown, but the Higgs particle is supposed to 'give' them their mass. How the hell does it do that?  On page 130, Unzicker, says according to Cox, it is "the best example of the unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics" - I ask you, what kind of physicist is this?  Physics should not be done this way. On page 131, Unzicker states: "We need an explanation or even better, a calculation with testable results".  

Also on page 131, Unzicker describes J. Al-Khahili as another expert in pompous talking.  Unzicker quotes Al-khahili: "2012 (the year of the Higgs so-called discovery) promises to be a truly historic year for physics" comparing it to Einstein's "miraculous year" of 1905; the Higgs might be the "key to telling us why these particles are as they are"; the Higgs is a "possible doorway maybe to other particles"; it allows us "to tie down other uncertainties"; "looking in the right direction for other particles"; "being on the threshold of another revolution". This is all pie in the sky when you die.  It is absolute rubbish for a scientist to use such vague and fanciful language, on par with that of Cox.  But they are BBC experts.

MAY NEVER MENTIONED BRINGING ASSAD TO JUSTICE

In her speech this afternoon May said there was, and had been in the past, plenty of evidence that the Assad regime had used chemical weapons.  If you have the evidence then surely Assad, his colleagues and military leaders must be tried in the Hague even in their absence.  So why hasn't May and her predecessor Cameron sought this before.  It is only the slow drip of witness information out of the Hague that will convict these criminals and bring them to justice.

PUT ASSAD ON TRIAL IN THE HAGUE (WHY RISK WAR?)

Surely it would be better to put Assad on trial in the Hague for war crimes.  Although we may never get him, he would be seen as evil over a long period which would do enormous damage to his reputation.

In contrast with the complicated methods of particle physicists, Unzicker says we should keep  physics simple, as Newton, Maxwell, Einstein, Shrodinger and Dirac did.  He says that Dirac worried about two elementary particles being a suspiciously complicated model, and Newton's supreme credo was simplicity.  Einstein didn't refer just to his period when he said that laws of nature are unlikely to be true unless they were very simple.  Einstein and his contemporaries disdained any theory with unexplained numbers - nowadays dozens of them are needed to describe the multitude of particles.  All this Unzicker has on  page 12, Chap. 1 of his book The Higgs Fake.  

On page 11, Chap.1, Unzicker states that the current understanding of Nature in the twenty-first century is: "Four different interactions exist in Nature, and the building blocks of the atomic nuclei, protons and neutrons, consist of parts themselves: quarks and gluons.  The quarks show up in six species called "flavours", each of which can appear in three different "colours".  Besides heavy particles there are two other groups, middle-weights and a light sort, consisting of electrons, muons, tauons, and three if not more, corresponding types of neutrinos, not to forget W, Z, and Higgs Bosons.  All these particles not only carry mass and electrical charge, but also so-called "isospin", "charm", "bottomness" and another couple of characteristics which define them.  It would fill several pages if I tried to give you just a rough idea of the underlying notions.  But lets pause for a moment.  Imagine you are visiting another civilisation where a Shaman tells you the above story?"  !!!!!!

Also in the Preface (page 8), Unzicker writes: "It is no excuse that, unfortunately, there are other degenerations of the scientific method in the realm of theoretical physics: super-symmetry and string theory which never predicted anything about anything and never will.  It is a sign of the rottenness of particle physics that nobody has the guts to declare the nontestable as nonsense, though many know perfectly well that it is.  They are all afraid of the collateral damage to their own shaky building, should the string bubble collapse.  The continuous flow of public funding they depend so much on requires consensus and appeasement.  However, experimental particle physics is somehow more dangerous to science as a whole, because with its observational fig leaves, it continues to beguile everybody that they are doing science instead of pushing technology to its limits."  

"But the worst thing about the standard model of particle physics is the stalling in the intellectual progress of humankind it has caused.  We need to get rid of that junk to evolve further."

In the Preface of his book (pages 7/8) Unzicker says: "Most high energy physicists indeed believe that what they are doing makes sense, but they are unable to disentangle their belief from what they think is evidence.  The more thoroughly one examines that evidence, however, the more frail it becomes.  But above all it is impenetrable.  Only the super-specialized understand their small portion of the data analysis, while a superficial babble is delivered to the public.  This is a scandal.  It is their business, not anyone else's, to provide a transparent, publicly reproducible kind of evidence that deserves the name."

I have just read the book three times: The Higgs Fake by Alexander Unzicker.  He puts the boot into particle physics.

AN UNPROFESSIONAL JOB IN SALISBURY

Going on the evidence of the widespread distribution of the nerve agent, it seems that the job has been done by amateurs playing with fire.  The government has to be wary of letting criminals into this country.  It is yet another sign of the need to cut down on immigration generally, reducing the risk in more ways than one.

SO THE HOMELESS ARE SO BECAUSE THEY ARE MENTALLY ILL

That is what May said today.  But is homelessness the cause of their mental illness?  The homeless go cold and hungry, resort to alcohol and drugs, so it is ever likely that they become ill and unable to cope.  Why does the government think that if we spend more on mental health it will ease the problem.  It may, with a more caring approach.  I have good reason not to trust psychiatrists who meddle with brains and do not understand what they are doing.    

Just think that we let into our country every year, hundreds of thousand people.  Common sense tells you that a housing crisis is inevitable.  Immigration must be stopped.  The housing crisis could be solved quite simply. We cannot go on concreting all over England.  This is totally unsustainable.  The stock of Council homes has been severely depleted.     We need a tough Government who will make decisions.

May should protect and invest in what is left of British industry (A MERE 20%) before it is too late.     

TRUMP IS RIGHT TO IMPOSE TRADE BARRIERS

My wife bought a Tommy Tippee cup for my two year old grandchild.  The wrapping had a Union Jack printed on it.  I thought good, we are at least producing a child's cup in this country.  A little later I looked at the wrapping and was very disappointed to see Made in China.  This is true of so many of the manufactured goods that we buy today.   

MAY'S SPEECH A PIG'S MEAL

It is going to take years to extricate ourselves from the EU, that is if we choose to do everything that May and the EU say.  Why does she have to make such a long complicated mess of brexit?  Keep it simple, go, present the EU with a fait accompli, and sort out the problems one by one in our own time.  

CORBYN IN COVENTRY - NO APOLOGIES

It was notable that Corbyn had nothing to say about the once important manufacturing industries (which people took pride in) which have been lost from Coventry under both Labour and Conservative Governments.  I would mention just a few: Courtaulds Fibre and Engineering Group, Massey Ferguson (we now buy their tractors),  Alfred Herbert Machine Tools (and a whole machine tool industry).  We once made rocket engines  at Ansty.  They formed the first stage of the Black Night rocket.  There wasn't just one foreign owned car company, but a plethora of them.  This is what globalisation and the EU (which also promotes it) has done to us in this area.  Successive governments have taken something very important to the British working man and women, and that is pride in their job and their company.  That is really what I want to see back.  This was why the British people voted to come out of the EU.  It was why many Labour voters did the same.  Manufacturing should represent at least 50% of our economic output, not 20%.  We are so vulnerable, unlike the Germans and Japanese.  It was as though Corbyn and Starmer were talking to themselves.  

WHAT IF THERE WAS A SECOND REFERENDUM?

Who would win?  I think that the British people are fed-up with the EU.  They can't stand the EU talking down from on high; the bureaucracy; the rules that must be written down; the regular money we have to pay; the large EU buildings that are everywhere; the way they try to tie us down; the immigration; the numbers of immigrant students; the dependence on Chinese manufactured goods; cars from the EU; the lack of investment in industry; the way the city has taken over.  We have become a nation that can offer very little to the world.  We have sold all our industries off.  Nothing has been done to protect our industries.  Unless we reverse things we are doomed to being a third rate nation.  The only way is to be set free, the sooner the better. And I can't stand seeing the miserable looking faces on EU leaders. 

SAY NO TO ALL FOREIGNERS

One must suspect that half the crime committed is done by foreigners who have no moral commitment to this country.   They are more than likely under the police radar and can disappear back to their country of origin without trace if they are caught.  For example, what do the police do if a foreigner smashes his uninsured car into your vehicle?  Nothing!  The police shrug their shoulders and leave you to foot the bill for the damage.  The EU arrest warrant is a waste of time.  We should do what we used to do and police our own borders.  The massive immigration into this country must be stopped.  

SAY NO TO FOREIGN STUDENTS

Academia is NOT a business, yet it is run like one.  Today academics have a vested interest in making money.  Their interest in their subject comes out of the money they can make, not out of the subject itself.  They encourage large numbers of foreign students to come to this country for heavy fees.  The students number approximately 150,000 Chinese, about the same from the EU and a similar number from other countries.  They take the places of British students and drain our resources.  Places of higher education are supposed to be the lifeblood of our nation.  Academics need to get back to their roots.  We should severely restrict the numbers of foreign students.       

BARNIER YOU HAVE FAILED

He thinks he is god.  The longer these 'negotiations' continue the worse he gets.  Why should we bow and scrape to him and the rest of EU?  The EU is a failed organisation, and it certainly looks it.  Barnier is representative of that failure. The world is passing the EU by.  IT IS WORN OUT.  

MAY BEGS FOR A DEAL

So the EU is fearful of what Britain might do when it leaves.  We should leave now.  Then offer to negotiate on our terms.  There is absolutely no need to beg for a deal, when  we could be getting-on with striking our own.  Take a leaf out of Trump's book and put Britain first.  

When we went into the EU, one thing I hadn't realised was how foolish we were to sign up to it in the first place.  It would take at least four years to get out.  Ridiculous!!!

THE NHS AND THE EU

We are forever being told that we spend less on our NHS compared to other EU countries.  The overload on our health system caused by immigration of a city-sized population into this country every year imposes heavy strains on resources. With high rates of child and adult obesity, a major cause of disease in all age groups, we are in an expensive pandemic of our own making.  More money is not going to solve our health problems in the long term. But all Governments have shown themselves impotent when it comes to resolving our health crisis. Reliance on numbers of tests, operations, and drugs is clearly not the answer.  Why for example do the numbers of ill people increase dramatically every year around Christmas time?  It isn't just because of the cold weather.  

We need to do more research on prevention.
If we undergo all the tests that are advised by doctors, we will be spending all our time at medical facilities. People live with cancer cells in their bodies for years.  It is clear to me that we have all got cancer cells which our immune system copes with.  So how do we improve  our immune system so that cancer doesn't win?  We must improve the quality of our food, reduce pollution, and exercise more.
